Experience regenerative farming, local wines, and life on the ranch during San Luis Obispo County’s biggest agricultural celebration.
The 2026 Open Farm Days was one to remember at 46 Ranch. As part of the San Luis Obispo County Farm Trail’s record-breaking weekend, we welcomed visitors from across California and beyond to explore the ranch, learn about regenerative agriculture, and see firsthand how we’re caring for the land.
According to FARMstead ED, this year’s Open Farm Days attracted more than 2,500 visitors, making it the largest event in the program’s history. We were honored to be one of the participating farms and grateful to everyone who chose to spend part of their weekend with us.

Sold-Out Hay Wagon Tours
One of the highlights of the weekend was our guided hay wagon tours, which sold out both scheduled departures.
Guests climbed aboard for a behind-the-scenes look at the ranch, where they learned about our farming practices, conservation efforts, and long-term vision for 46 Ranch. It was exciting to see so many people eager to connect with local agriculture and better understand where their food comes from.

Exploring Regenerative Farming at 46 Ranch
Our vineyard manager, Jordan from El Viñero Wines, joined the tours to share the story of our vineyards while pouring tastings of the same varietals currently growing here at the ranch.
Together, we introduced guests to the regenerative farming practices that guide everything we do, including:
Rotational grazing with our livestock
Composting to naturally enrich the soil
Using sheep’s wool as mulch throughout the orchard
Building healthier landscapes through practices like gulley stuffing
Supporting California’s efforts to restore beaver populations and improve watershed health
Visitors also learned about our barn owl boxes, which provide safe nesting sites for barn owls while protecting them from great horned owls and encouraging natural pest management throughout the ranch.
Sharing the Story of the Ranch
Throughout the day, our owners Tawny and Bram, welcomed guests at our information table, where they shared the history of 46 Ranch and our vision for its future.
We also appreciated Brittany App from FARMstead ED joining our first tour to photograph the event and help tell the story of Open Farm Days across San Luis Obispo County.
Local Products to Take Home
After their hay wagon tour, guests received a special thank you gift of two pasture-raised eggs, gathered fresh from the ranch.
Visitors also had the opportunity to shop for several of our ranch favorites, including:
Pasture-raised eggs
46 Ranch honey
Fresh kettle corn
46 Ranch stickers
It was wonderful to see so many people taking a little piece of the ranch home with them.
Thank You for Visiting
We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who visited 46 Ranch during Open Farm Days, as well as FARMstead ED for organizing another outstanding event that celebrates the farms, ranches, and makers of San Luis Obispo County.
The enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, and support from visitors made this year’s event truly special.
